We didn't know we needed a mini-vacation until we got one!  Cinque Terra was a great chance for us to slow down, give our brains a break from all the history we were learning, and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.  We chuckled when we heard about the Minister of Good Taste that monitored the exterior color of houses - it looked like a big job!

 

Cinque Terra had a more touristy vibe than other stops on the tour, and it was a ton of fun bumping into people from our home state and town in the middle of a somewhat remote hike!  As did others before us, we added a rock pile to the collection by the beach.  We ended our last night with an absolutely epic wine tasting with another couple on our tour, and laughed our way thru the pours as we got to know each other better, and decided Cinque Terra was not know for their reds!
